This version of Adobe Reader is compatible with Windows XP, Windows 7, and Windows 8 only. At 16.6 megabytes, it is a lightweight program that you can download for personal and professional use. Adobe Reader Lite trims down the extensive set of features from Adobe Reader DC and provides only the essentials. Adobe Acrobat was the first software to support Adobe Systems' Portable Document Format (PDF). It is a family of software, some commercial and some free of charge. Adobe Reader (formerly called Acrobat Reader) is available as a no-charge download from Adobe's web.

You can now receive and immediately open documents sent by anyone using a different version of InDesign CC without extra steps like manually exporting to IDML. Compatibility is built right in, ensuring that your documents always open just as you would expect.

If you open a document created in a newer version of InDesign CC and click OK in the following message, InDesign CC uses a Creative Cloud service to convert the document to the InDesign CC version that you are running. InDesign CC then saves the converted document back to your computer.
