Can Windows 10 And Xbox One Play Minecraft Together
The thing about PC gaming is that regardless of whatever PC brand or build or operating system version, PC gamers can play multiplayer games together as long as they are able to run the game on their computer. When it comes to consoles, it’s an entirely different story, but cross-platform play is something that is being worked towards.
My kids and I play, I use my Windows 10 PC and they normally play on the three xbox one consoles in this house. I say that Microsoft / Mojang can track IP addresses and find out that all of these devices is within the same LAN network and make it to where someone signed in on this LAN network can use the same addons as the primary family account holder! Part of that success is that you can play the game on almost any platform you wish. Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, PC, and mobile all allow players to jump into the world of Minecraft, go on adventures, and build cool stuff with their friends. However, those friends have to be playing on the same system if you want to play together.
Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition was the former title of Bedrock Edition for the universal Windows 10 platform developed by Mojang Studios and Xbox Game Studios.56 It runs on Windows 10 PCs and tablets, as well as the HoloLens.178 Despite being a UWP app, it is not available for Windows 10 Mobile or Xbox One, so it is separate from the cheaper releases of Bedrock Edition on Windows 10 Mobile.

In fact at E3 2017, Microsoft announced that Minecraft would be getting cross-platform support, meaning that for the most part, Minecraft players across different platforms will be able to play together, pick up where they left of, and so on. The supported platforms include the Xbox One, Windows 10, iOS, Android, Gear VR, Oculus Rift, Fire TV, Kindle Fire, Windows Phone, and the Nintendo Switch.
Missing from this would be Microsoft’s previous generation Xbox 360 console, and Sony’s PS4, the latter of which isn’t surprising. In more recent times, Microsoft has warmed up to the idea of cross-play across consoles and from the statements we’ve heard, it sounds like the ball is pretty much in Sony’s court.
However a report from last year suggested that maybe for security reasons and the use of different security protocols could be the reason why we’ve yet to see Xbox One and PS4 cross-play. That being said as far as Minecraft is concerned, gamers will still need to buy Minecraft for each individual platform, but if you’ve been looking forward to playing Minecraft with your friends who are using different platforms, this could be worth looking forward to in the near future.
